Hyper-Converged Infrastructure - Workload Acceleration - Better VM density
IDC states: "Organizations can incur significant expense in terms of infrastructure and licensing costs, staff inefficiencies, and lost productivity when their IT infrastructures and systems are not modernized and transformed with new technologies and solutions. IDC refers to the costs associated with aging technology as technical debt." Why you SHOULD care? Why is HCI replacing traditional Server/SAN architectures? What technologies make it fast? What technologies will make it faster? Would you like your virtualized servers to handle 30 to 50% more Virtual Machines? Intel will discuss how you can do this and more in our breakout session on Hyper-Converged Infrastructure.

Streamlining Backups with Veeam and AWS
Backups are a necessary but tedious aspect of Information Technology. Frequently eclipsed in priority due to more urgent and tangible matters, the value of quality backups only materializes after disaster strikes. At that moment, an efficient and well-ordered backup solution is sublime. However, ensuring your backups are truly shipshape is expensive in both time and money. Maintenance of schedules and policies. Data recovery. Tape storage. Even in the cloud, backups left to accumulate will accrue ever greater financial costs. All this, while our attention is continuously pulled in a myriad of other directions.

Facing these issues, Washington and Lee University has implemented an automated backup solution that requires little to no maintenance time, facilitates data recovery, and incurs an entirely consistent financial cost. We do some cool stuff with backups, and we would like to share how we leverage Veeam and AWS to make our lives easier.
