On March 12, 2014, the Information Technology Services Unit (ITSU) of Virginia Tech's College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences gave a presentation, "Just Say Yes!" touting a new service strategy and organizational structure. In less than two and a half years, ITSU would no longer exist. While many things contributed to the elimination of the unit, this presentation is not about that. It's about resilience. In the past few years, resilience has become the new buzzword skill. With publications like Fast Company and Harvard Business Review writing about resilience in the workplace, clearly, it is a sought-after skill. But what does it really look like? Amanda will walk you through the six-month dissolution of ITSU and the skills she used (and missed) to survive the chaos of this change and everyday life. This narrative approach will leave you with the tools for practical application and advice beyond the same old breathing exercises and visualizations.
